Norman Vestal Park Fair Oaks Ranch, TX
Client: Fair Oaks Ranch HOA
Project Team: Gratr Landscapes, T-Core Engineers
Vestal Park is part of a master plan redesigning over 20 acres of two separate parks located in Fair Oaks Ranch. The new vision turned this 7-acre space into a nature-inspired park featuring new playground equipment, a climbing structure, improved trails and trailhead, and a multi-use lawn. The low-impact design captures road runoff into beautifully integrated rain gardens. A major focus of the park's development was the rehabilitation of a drainage creek, aimed at mitigating erosion and fostering an environment that promotes nature play and exploration. As part of its expansion, an additional parking lot was created to accommodate the growing number of visitors. The design is expertly built around the existing mature trees to create a shaded play area without altering the existing landscape. The success of the park comes in the form of reshaping the drainage as an opportunity for recreation and beautification, thus developing a hill country character and seamlessly connecting and enhancing the existing program of the park. Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 were completed in 2021.
